Psalm 111:10 - November 1, 2009

Ps 111:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. NIV"

This passage is the central theme to a life of wisdom. Do you truly desire to make wise choices? Do you long to be spared the pain creating by making significant mistakes in crucial life decisions that affect your life and the lives of others? Psalm 111:10 shows us the foundation of all wisdom; the fear of the Lord. This is not a complex principle, nor is it difficult to understand and yet so many people overlook this simple truth in their decision making and in the counsel that they give to others.
This passage needs no long explanation but is plainly seen for what it is. To walk in the fear of the Lord is simply this: IN EVERY CHOICE, EVERY ACTION, EVERY WORD, EVERY DEED, CONSIDER ONE QUESTION BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER IN THE PROCESS “HOW DOES GOD FEEL ABOUT THIS MATTER? Is this choice or action offensive to Him? Does it agree with the counsels of scripture where God reveals His heart and His ways to us?” This is what it is to fear the Lord. So many wrong decisions can be avoided simply by adding God to the process. If an area of consideration passes the scrutiny of the word and ways of God then we can move beyond that to further evaluation of the matter and know as we do that the matter has a good foundation from which to look at the remaining practical considerations relevant to it. Every matter should begin with God!!!!!
